BATHFORD 3: 217-5, ALL CANNINGS: 147 all out
Our second completed match of the season brought our first loss. Winning the toss, All Cannings chose to make use of the new ball by bowling first but wickets proved hard to come by as Bathford’s batsmen rode their luck. Despite having only ten players on the field Cannings managed to keep the run rate under control for the majority of the innings. However this changed towards the end with Bathford’s number six, having looked very uncomfortable against the final balls of quicker bowling, attacking the slower bowlers and allowing them put on 70 runs in the last six overs.
After that Cannings’ heads dropped slightly, and with Tom Chadwick succumbing to a questionable LBW decision on 24 the task looked daunting. Richard Sykes rallied to put on 40 but unfortunately nobody else could manage to follow suit and Cannings were bowled out for 147 to end a disappointing afternoon.
